She concludes by announcing that the church was hosting a pair of free vaccination clinics and urging everyone to show up, advice that probably would have been more helpful two months ago.

No fucking shit. These kids should have had this shot YEARS ago. But hey! God and Jesus, you know, they will protect the TRUE believers right up until they don’t.

Measles can cause infertility. That would put a little crimp in the quiverfull movement.

This shit is very irresponsible. It could get some people killed. I hope I don’t sound like I’m using hyperbole here but I think the anti-vax movement is one of the most dangerous things we have in this country.

Anti-vaxxers are horrid and must be fought wherever they lift their ugly heads.

This is a case in which their anti-vaccination stance came back to bite them in their asses. Serves them right for being so stupid.

Their kids, their neighbors’ kids (especially newborns), cancer patients, transplant patients, the elderly, and pretty much anyone in their community who has a suppressed immune system.

Not that I was an avid watcher, but I will not be watching The View ever again. Not with Jenny McCarthy on it. As far as I am concerned she is directly responsible for this kind of crap.

Vaccination is a public health issue. You’re doing more than vaccinating yourself or your kids against the potential of getting a communicable disease. You’re also reducing the chances that people who can’t get a vaccine - those who have compromised immune systems, or are too young to get them, aren’t exposed to diseases that could seriously harm or kill them.

It’s part of the herd immunity, but in communities that have a strong anti-vax component, the herd immunity breaks down and outbreaks can and do happen.

And each time it does, it’s usually kids who pay the price.
